The primary concern is the potential for damage to your belongings during the move. The Bureau of Household Goods Services mandates that moving companies provide a Basic Valuation at a rate of $0.60 per pound in the event of any damages. For example, if your 30 pound flat-screen TV is damaged, we’re required to reimburse in the amount of $18 ( 0.60 cents x 30 pounds = $18 ). We highly recommend additional insurance known as “3RD PARTY INSURANCE,” and this insurance can be purchased through www.movinginsurance.com. It is a very affordable option costing about 1% of your items’ value, and ensures the value of your belongings in full.
